On the 2-CD set of works by Henryk Mikołaj Górecki
"The first CD features the psalm setting Beatus vir, written in 1979 and dedicated to Pope John Paul II (the album marks the 25th anniversary of the start of his pontificate) and the choral piece Amen. Both interpretations are full of commitment and emotion, particularly Amen, whose contemplative, prayer-like character emanates from almost every phrase. This exceedingly beautiful and difficult composition, in which Górecki draws on the tradition of church songs, never fails to make a profound impression upon me...
The second CD presents the instrumental Górecki.
