PIOTR PALECZNY
Piotr Paleczny is one of the most outstanding Polish pianists, he has
been widely recognized on five continents, where his recitals and
concerts were appreciated by the audience and critics for his
charismatic and authoritative performing powers.
Paleczny began his musical education in Silesia. He studied piano -
playing under Jan Ekier at the Warsaw Academy of Music. Prize-winner at
international piano competitions in Sofia (1968), Munich (1969), Pleven
(1971) Bordeaux (1972), as well as at the Frederick Chopin
International Piano Competition in Warsaw (1970).
Since then Piotr Paleczny has appeared with recitals in major musical
centres all over the world, in famous concert halls, e.g. Carnegie Hall
and Avery Fisher in New York, Orchestra Hall in Chicago, Teatro Real in
Madrid, Suntory Hall in Tokyo, Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Teatro Colon
in Buenos Aires, or Royal Festival Hall in London. |

Besides his concert activity, Piotr Paleczny also teaches international
master classes in Bordeaux, Amsterdam, Taipei, Buenos Aires, Tokio,
Lugano, Santander, and Warsaw. Since 1997, he has been tutoring the
piano class at the Academy of Music in Warsaw. The pianist has acted as
a member of the jury at major international piano competitions in
Warsaw, Paris, Santander, Tokio, Hamamatsu, Prague and Cleveland.
Piotr Paleczny has made a number of recordings for Polish and
international companies. The annual 'Musical America '88' announced the
record of Paderewski's Piano Concerto with the participation of Jerzy
Maksymiuk (published by "Sound" company) to be the best phonographic
interpretation of this work. In the American market there was another
highly praised record, namely Szymanowski's 4th Symphony "Concerting",
published by EMI, whereas in Japan Paleczny recorded with Pony Canyon
the CDs containing both Chopin piano concertos, ballades, impromptus,
scherzos and Fantasia. Naxos company published Piano Concerto of
Lutos³awski; DUX recorded two Chopin Piano Concertos in chamber
version; BeArTon company published Chopin's Ballades and Fantasia ,
Sonatas , Piano Concertos based on the National Edition of Chopin`s
works (award of Polish Phonographic Academy: Fryderyk 2002) and album
The Best of Paderewski ( nomination of Fryderyk 2001 award). For
albums: Ballades, Fantasia and Piano Concertos pianist received Golden
Disc. Moreover, Piotr Paleczny has also recorded for the Polish Radio
and TV, as well as for the BBC, RAI, Radio France and RT
Espaniola.
Since 1993, Piotr Paleczny has also acted as the artistic director of
the oldest music festival in Poland - The International Chopin Festival
in Duszniki Zdrój.
