WOJCIECH ŚWITAŁA
He studied with Professor Józef Stompel in the years 1982-1991. In 1991
he graduated from the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice,
receiving a diploma with distinctions. In the following years he
perfected his skills with Professor K. H. Kämmerling in Hannover.
The pianist won the first prize at the international competition in
Bardolino, Italy, the Grand Prix II, audience prize and the 'best
European' prize at the M. Long & J. Thibaud Competition in Paris,
as well a prize the Piano Competition in Montreal. At the 12th
International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw he won the prize for
the best performance of the Polonaise and some other prizes. |

Wojciech Świtała has given concerts in most European countries,
Argentina, Morocco, the United States and Canada. He has recorded music
by Liszt, Schumann and Chopin (including his Scherzos , Waltzes and
Rondos in the National Edition recording which won award of The Polish
Phonographic Academy :Fryderyk 2002). In 2000 his recording Waltzes and
Other Works released by BeArTon won the Grand Prix du Disque Frederic
Chopin award .
The pianist has been teaching since 1998. He works at the Chair of the
Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice of Piano.
